Before the consultation: prepare a clear patient brief
Write a one-page summary that you can send securely to the clinic or interpreter. Include your main concern, when it began, previous diagnoses, procedures, allergies, medicines and supplements, and any conditions that could affect anesthesia, surgery, or recovery. Add relevant imaging and laboratory reports with dates, but do not send original documents unless the provider specifically requests them.

- Who will assess me and perform the procedure? Ask about relevant qualifications, facility privileges, and team roles.
- What tests or an in-person examination are needed before a final recommendation?
- What are the common risks, serious complications, expected discomfort, and warning signs?
- What could make the provider postpone or cancel treatment after examination?
- What restrictions apply to flying, bathing, exercise, medication, and work afterward?
Costs and consent
- Request an itemized estimate showing consultation, tests, anesthesia, facility charges, medicines, interpretation, taxes, and possible additional care.
- Ask what the deposit covers, when payment is due, and the cancellation or refund terms.
- Clarify whether revision treatment, complications, or unplanned hospital care are included. Do not assume they are.
- Request consent documents in a language you understand, with time to review them before treatment.
Travel, recovery, and follow-up checks
Ask the provider for a realistic recovery pathway rather than building a sightseeing schedule around the earliest possible discharge. Confirm the recommended number of nights near the facility, who reviews you after treatment, and how urgent concerns are handled outside clinic hours.
